Proton VPN, one of the top-rated VPNs that has been around for a long time, has been expanding its horizons lately. Now the company is making its browser extension free for all users.

Previously, the extension was only available to Proton VPN Plus subscribers, but now you can use it for free. Proton VPN’s extension is available for Firefox-based browsers such as Firefox, Google Chrome, Edge, and Brave, and it encrypts all your traffic within your browser.

It also allows you to connect to a VPN server in a different country than the one you’re connected to with the Proton VPN app, in case you want to access region-locked content on your PC.

The extension also includes a feature that Proton calls “Smart Rules,” which allows you to configure the extension to automatically turn on when you visit certain sites or to keep your connection encrypted in private browsing mode.

Proton VPN, known for its focus on privacy, says it made the extension free to make it easier to bypass Internet censorship in countries where the Proton VPN app can’t be downloaded or installed.

In addition to the browser extension, Proton VPN has announced a new plan called Proton Duo. For $14.99 per month, Proton Duo subscribers get everything included in a Proton Plus plan (the highest tier of Proton VPN subscriptions) for two users, plus 1TB of encrypted storage shared between both users on Proton Drive, the company’s cloud storage service.

The Proton Duo plan comes with an additional 15GB of storage per user per year, and Proton says the plan is significantly cheaper than buying two Proton Plus subscriptions.
