The English Premier League (EPL) 2022/2023 season is scheduled to resume on December 26th, just 8 days after the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
This is great news for all EPL fans around the world, but if you live in the Netherlands you may have to overcome some obstacles to enjoy the league’s tournaments.
This is because a lot of channels that stream the Premier League are geo-blocked and not available to viewers in the Netherlands. However, there is a way you can get past that, and we’ll show you below how.
Where can you watch the Premier League in the Netherlands?
There are a number of streaming platforms as well as regular cable TV that hold broadcasting rights for the Premier League.
Most of them are geo-locked in the Netherlands, but you can get around that if you use a VPN. Here are some of the most popular services that stream it:
You can stream every season of the EPL on NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock. To watch live Premier League matches you need to subscribe to Peacock Premium.
This service does not show all live Premier League matches but you can watch some matches here for free. Unfortunately, the platform is only available in the UK.
You can stream on NBCSN which is available on Fubo TV. Although Fubo TV does not stream all the live Premier League matches, you can watch the most important, highly expected EPL matchups with Fubo TV’s Pro, Elite and Ultimate plans.
You can get Hulu+Live TV with ESPN and stream all the Premier League matches. The service is however only available in the US, but it can be unlocked.
Sling TV recently added NBCSN to its new streaming service Sling Blue. This means you can stream all EPL matches showing on NBCSN directly on Sling Blue.
For those who don’t want to miss a single match, ESPN+ is the place to go. The service is actually available in the Netherlands, but some of the content is locked. Using a VPN with ESPN+ will grant you access to all its international libraries from countries like the US or Spain.
Formerly known as AT&T TV, Direct Stream provides direct access to NBC, USA, and CNBC. These channels air Premier League matches and you can access them if you get a subscription plan.
Unfortunately, due to international distributing rights issues, most of these platforms are either completely or partially geo-restricted. That means you cannot access them at all or some of their content in the Netherlands.
How to watch the matches
To watch Premier League matches in the Netherlands, you have to be connected to a VPN and make it seem like you’re in supported countries.
We recommend a VPN with good US server coverage because most of these platforms stream in the US. So you’ll have more than just one option, plus US content bases across most platforms are extremely enticing.
Most platforms use IP-based information to detect your location and block you. Additionally, some may use anti-VPN features to prevent you from bypassing the blocks.
That’s why you need to make sure you use a strong enough VPN that can make your VPN traffic look like regular HTTPS traffic. For that, we used NordVPN and it worked great for several platforms.
Here’s what we did to access several platforms that broadcast Premier League:
