How to Watch Godzilla: King of the Monsters on Netflix in the US with a VPN (2026)

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) is currently available on Netflix in Italy, where the movie appears under the title Godzilla II – King of the Monsters. The official Netflix Italy page confirms its availability, including English audio and subtitles.

However, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is not currently available on Netflix US. If you’re in the United States, you can try connecting to an Italian VPN server using Private Internet Access, ExpressVPN, or NordVPN. All three services offer Italian IP addresses.

Keep in mind that changing your VPN location does not guarantee access to the movie. According to Netflix’s VPN guidelines, the service may detect VPN connections and limit users to titles with worldwide distribution rights.

How to watch Godzilla: King of the Monsters on Netflix with a VPN

Since Netflix Italy currently carries Godzilla: King of the Monsters, you can try connecting to an Italian VPN server before opening Netflix. Follow these steps:

1. Choose a VPN. Private Internet Access is our first recommendation, followed by ExpressVPN and NordVPN.
2. Download and install the VPN app.
3. Connect to a server in Italy.
4. Fully close Netflix if it is already open.
5. Reopen Netflix after the VPN connects.
6. Sign in with your existing Netflix account.
7. Search for Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
8. Start playback if the title appears.

Italy is a suitable location to try because the Netflix Italy listing currently displays the movie without an unavailability warning. It also confirms English-language playback and offline downloads.

Netflix uses the title Godzilla II – King of the Monsters in Italy, so searching for that name may also help you find the movie. However, Netflix may still recognize your VPN connection and restrict regional playback.

Best VPNs for watching Godzilla: King of the Monsters on Netflix

Private Internet Access, ExpressVPN, and NordVPN all offer Italian VPN locations. Their server choices differ, so you can try another location within Italy if you experience connection problems.

VPN	Italy locations	Option to try first
Private Internet Access (Editor’s Choice)	Milano, Naples, Italy Streaming Optimized	Italy Streaming Optimized
ExpressVPN	Cosenza, Milan, Naples (virtual, hosted in Germany)	Cosenza
NordVPN	Milan, Rome, Palermo	Automatic Italy server selection

These locations come from the providers’ official server information. While all three VPNs support Italian IP addresses, none guarantees access to Italy’s Netflix catalog.

1. Private Internet Access

Private Internet Access is our Editor’s Choice for Godzilla: King of the Monsters because it offers a dedicated Italy Streaming Optimized location alongside standard servers in Milano and Naples.

According to the official PIA server directory, the available Italian locations are IT Milano, IT Naples, and IT Streaming Optimized.

Start with IT Streaming Optimized. PIA provides this location specifically for streaming performance, making it the first connection worth trying when accessing Italian streaming services.

To find it, open the PIA app, navigate to the server list, and search for Italy or Streaming Optimized. Select the Italian streaming location and connect before reopening Netflix.

If Godzilla: King of the Monsters does not appear, disconnect and try Milano. Naples provides another Italian IP location if you need an alternative connection.

PIA distinguishes between physical and virtual server locations. A virtual location gives users an IP address associated with one country while the underlying hardware operates somewhere else.

The provider’s virtual server documentation explains how these connections work. Italy does not appear among the provider’s published virtual country locations, although its public server directory does not establish the physical hosting details of every individual Italian endpoint.

PIA also offers troubleshooting guidance through its streaming support guide. If you encounter problems, try switching servers, clearing browser data, and updating the VPN application.

Even with a Streaming Optimized location, PIA cannot guarantee that Netflix will show or play Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Netflix may still recognize the VPN connection and restrict access.

2. ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN is another option for connecting to Italy. The provider offers several Italian IP locations, including Cosenza, Milan, and Naples.

The official ExpressVPN server directory confirms all three locations. You can select a specific city or allow ExpressVPN to choose an appropriate Italian connection automatically.

Start with Cosenza. ExpressVPN identifies it as one of its upgraded 40Gbps server locations, which makes it a reasonable starting point for streaming and other bandwidth-intensive activities.

If Netflix does not display Godzilla: King of the Monsters, try Milan or Naples. These locations give you alternative Italian IP addresses without switching to a different country.

There is an important distinction between these locations. According to ExpressVPN’s virtual server documentation, its Naples location uses a virtual Italian IP address while the physical server is hosted in Germany.

That means selecting Naples makes your connection appear to originate from Italy, even though the server hardware operates in Germany. This arrangement does not prevent it from providing an Italian IP address, but it may affect routing and latency.

ExpressVPN does not identify Cosenza or Milan as virtual locations in the same published list. However, users should not assume undocumented physical infrastructure details for every individual server.

The provider’s Italy VPN page also confirms high-capacity server infrastructure and support for the Lightway protocol.

While ExpressVPN provides several Italian connections, Netflix may still identify its IP addresses as VPN traffic and restrict access to regional movies.

3. NordVPN

NordVPN provides Italian IP addresses through a network of more than 60 servers, according to its official Italy server page.

The NordVPN Italy server directory identifies Milan, Rome, and Palermo as available city locations.

For the first connection, open NordVPN, select Italy, and let the app choose an available server automatically. NordVPN’s automatic selection system chooses a connection based on your location and network conditions.

You can also select Milan manually. If Netflix does not display the movie, try Rome or Palermo before switching back to automatic server selection.

NordVPN currently advertises more than 60 Italian servers. This number may change as the company adjusts its network. The official country page confirms the available cities but does not specify the physical hosting arrangement of every individual endpoint.

NordVPN also includes SmartPlay, a feature that combines VPN and DNS technologies to improve streaming compatibility while maintaining an encrypted connection.

According to NordVPN’s SmartPlay documentation, the feature activates automatically when you connect through a NordVPN app.

You do not need to enable SmartPlay separately, install an additional extension, or change your DNS settings. It runs in the background as part of the VPN connection.

However, SmartPlay does not guarantee that Netflix will provide access to Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Netflix may still detect NordVPN and limit region-specific titles.

What to do if Godzilla: King of the Monsters does not appear

If Netflix does not display Godzilla: King of the Monsters after you connect to Italy, your browser may retain old location information, or Netflix may have recognized the VPN connection. Try the following steps:

1. Close Netflix completely.
2. Disconnect from the VPN.
3. Reconnect to Italy.
4. Try another server or location in the same country.
5. Clear Netflix cookies and your browser cache.
6. Open a private or incognito browser window.
7. Reopen Netflix and sign in again.
8. Search for Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Private Internet Access users should start with Italy Streaming Optimized, followed by Milano or Naples. ExpressVPN users can switch between Cosenza, Milan, and Naples. NordVPN users can reconnect automatically or try Milan, Rome, and Palermo.

If the movie does not appear under its English name, also search for Godzilla II – King of the Monsters, the title Netflix uses in Italy.

If these steps do not work, Netflix may be limiting the catalog because of VPN detection. Its missing titles guide also describes other reasons movies may not appear, including licensing changes, profile restrictions, and language preferences.

Netflix may detect the VPN

A VPN changes the public IP address Netflix sees when your device connects to the service. For example, an Italian VPN connection generally makes your traffic appear to originate from Italy instead of the United States.

However, an Italian IP address alone does not guarantee access to the country’s Netflix catalog. Netflix may recognize the connection as VPN traffic and restrict which movies and shows appear.

According to Netflix’s official VPN support page, users connecting through a VPN may only see titles for which Netflix has worldwide distribution rights.

That means Godzilla: King of the Monsters may remain unavailable in your Netflix account even while your VPN app displays Italy as the connected country.

Trying another Italian server may resolve some connection problems, but Netflix can still block access to region-specific titles. No VPN provider guarantees access to every Netflix catalog.

Can you use a Netflix ad-supported plan with a VPN?

No. Netflix currently states that its ad-supported experience does not support VPN connections.

If you subscribe to Netflix with ads, you may encounter playback restrictions or VPN-related errors when connecting through Private Internet Access, ExpressVPN, or NordVPN.

Netflix confirms this restriction in its VPN support documentation. To use an ad-supported subscription normally, you need to disconnect your VPN.

An ad-free Netflix subscription avoids this particular limitation, but Netflix may still detect VPN connections and restrict access to regional content.

Does changing the VPN location change your Netflix account?

No. Connecting to an Italian VPN server does not change your Netflix email address, password, profiles, or existing account credentials.

The VPN changes the public IP address Netflix sees. It does not automatically convert your US Netflix subscription into an Italian account or modify your login information.

You can continue signing in with your existing Netflix credentials. However, the movies and shows Netflix displays may depend on regional licensing rights, account settings, and VPN detection.

The Netflix US title page does not currently offer Godzilla: King of the Monsters for streaming, while the official Italian listing confirms its availability in Italy.

When you disconnect from the VPN, Netflix generally recognizes your regular internet location again without changing your account settings.

Which VPN should you use?

Private Internet Access is our first recommendation because it offers a dedicated Italy Streaming Optimized location alongside Milano and Naples. This gives users several Italian connection options, although Netflix compatibility is not guaranteed.

ExpressVPN is a useful alternative thanks to its locations in Cosenza, Milan, and Naples, including high-capacity servers. NordVPN also offers Italian connections in Milan, Rome, and Palermo, along with SmartPlay, which activates automatically when you connect.

Netflix Italy currently carries Godzilla: King of the Monsters, making Italy the verified international region for this guide. However, licensing agreements, VPN detection, and server availability can change, so an Italian VPN connection does not guarantee playback from the United States.
