Now, let’s dive into the most important part:

How to buy PS Plus cheaper?

Option 1: Buy from a cheap country’s website

  1. Use a VPN like ExpressVPN with servers in one of the countries with the cheapest rates.
    buy expressvpn
  2. Install and log in – Set up the VPN on your device and log in.

If you manage to get a Turkish IP address and complete the registration, you can take advantage of these prices. However, due to registration issues and Turkish VPN crackdowns, I wasn’t able to get around that.

So I went for the next best option and changed my location to Indonesia.

In Indonesia, PS Plus Essential costs Rp 89,000/month ($5.81), and the 12-month plan is Rp 709,000 ($46.17), or $3.84/month.

How to pay for PS Plus on foreign websites

ps store error turkey

Buying PS Plus from foreign countries like Turkey, South Korea, Japan, and Indonesia can offer significant savings, but each has its own challenges. Here’s a quick breakdown of the issues with each country and why Indonesia is often the best option.

Countries and Their Main Issues:

  • Turkey: Low prices, but registration issues with the Turkish PS Store. Even with a Turkish IP, I couldn’t complete the process without ongoing complications.
  • South Korea: Requires identity verification through NICE iPIN. This adds a barrier unless you have someone willing to share their personal information.
  • Japan: Manual registration in Japanese, which is inconvenient for most people. The small price difference with Indonesia doesn’t justify the extra hassle.

Why Indonesia?

  • Easy process: Register with an Indonesian IP address, no identity verification, and you can complete everything in English.
  • What you need: Just the banking info from someone in Indonesia, and you’re all set!

Option 2: Check third-party marketplaces

If you don’t want to get a VPN or aren’t able to access cheaper PS Plus prices by changing your location, there are several other ways to snag a discount on your subscription.

Here are some of the best optons at the time of writing (April 2025):

  • CDKeys
CDKeys is a popular discount site for gaming subscriptions. As of April 2025, they offer a 12-month Essential subscription for just $29.39 (down from $59.99), and a 3-month Essential plan for $15.39. Prices may vary based on region, so be sure to check compatibility with your account. Check CDKeys for the latest deal
  • G2A
G2A offers a range of PS Plus subscriptions at discounted rates. A 12-month Essential membership is priced at €55.00 (about $59.99), while a 12-month Extra plan goes for €81.00 (around $88.00). As with any third-party marketplace, check prices and seller ratings before buying. See the G2A deals here
  • Gameflip
Gameflip is a user-to-user marketplace where you can buy PS Plus codes at discounted prices. For example, you can find a 12-month Essential subscription for $42.99 or sometimes lower depending on the seller. As with any marketplace, it’s crucial to check seller ratings and reviews to ensure a safe purchase. Find PS Plus subscriptions on Gameflip

Summary

Turkey is the cheapest country for PS Plus. However, you can’t register on the Turkish PlayStation Store even when using a VPN.

The only way to buy the subscription from there is to have someone else do all the work for you.

For other locations, like Indonesia, you still need a credit card from someone in the country, but you can sign up and make the purchase yourself.

So, my advice is to think of a relative or friend in one of the countries where PS Plus is cheaper and ask them to let you use their banking information to buy a subscription.
