AMAZON PRIME ERROR 1041 AND 4061

So, you are ready for your favorite show on Amazon Prime Video.

However, as you turn on your device all you can see is an ugly Amazon Error 4601 or Amazon Error 1042.

When this happens, you may ask yourself:

  • What is error 4601 on Amazon Video?
  • How to resolve Amazon error code 4601?
  • What is error code 1042 for Amazon Prime?
  • How to fix error 1042 on Amazon?

Keep on reading and we will address all these questions.

Amazon Prime is one of the most popular streaming services in the world.

However, due to limited content in some areas, and the fact that it is not available at all in some regions, many use VPNs and proxies to unlock it.

But, unfortunately, Amazon caught up with that and probably tries to stop it. We say this because it seems people using these tools get frequent errors.

The most common errors are Error 1042, and Error 4601.

If you are experiencing similar problems, you might be glad to know that there is a way to fix such issues and once again enjoy all that Amazon Prime has to offer.

What are errors 1042 and 4601?

When you encounter Error 1042, you will receive the following message:

Your device’s Internet connection is using an HTTP proxy which prevents playing your video. Please close or disable any proxy programs and try again. For further assistance, please contact Amazon Customer Service at www.amazon.com/videohelp and refer to error 1042.

Similarly, Error 4601 will notify you that This video isn’t available due to geographical licensing restrictions.

Error code 1042 is the HTTP Proxy Not Supported error, which means that you are likely using a VPN that Amazon has blacklisted.

This would mean that you can no longer use this service for accessing Prime Video content.

Many streaming services and other websites tend to do this in order to block those who should not have access to said services from their locations.

The second one, Amazon error 4601, is a geo-restriction error that happens pretty much under the same circumstances.

You are using a VPN to access Amazon Prime’s content, and the service has recognized it as a blacklisted IP address, so it won’t grant you access for as long as you continue to use it.

Amazon and others do this by tracking down all IP addresses connected to servers owned by specific VPNs.

This is why most VPNs will no longer work with services like Amazon Prime, Netflix, or BBC iPlayer.

Unfortunately, if you disconnect your VPN, the service will see your real IP address, and it will know that you should not have access from your location either.

How to Fix Amazon error code 1042 and 4601?

If you happen to get these errors, there are two things that you can do.

The first and easiest method is to try to connect to a different server in the US.

Most VPNs have dozens, if not hundreds of servers in the United States.

Even if Amazon identified one of those servers and all IP addresses that belong to it, the chances are that they did not completely ban all of the VPN’s servers.

So you can try jumping between them until you find one that works.

If that method doesn’t work, the only alternative you have is to switch to a different VPN that’s not as easy to detect and block.

As mentioned, not every VPN will work.

While new services usually work as they feature IP addresses that Amazon did not have the chance to ban yet, chances are that they will be blacklisted rather soon.

In other words, do not try to fix Amazon Error 1042 by subscribing to a brand-new VPN.

Instead, you should try one of those who have managed to avoid getting blacklisted by Amazon and its peers for years now.

These include the likes of ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and CyberGhost which are among the best VPNs available.

  • ExpressVPN has the largest server network (94 countries, 3000+ servers)
  • CyberGhost has the highest number of servers (90 countries, 9000+ servers)
  • NordVPN is close behind them (59 countries, 5,300 servers), with amazing obfuscation

All of these VPNs come with a number of excellent features:

  • Excellent speeds, perfect for streaming
  • Reasonable prices
  • Privacy and security features are the strongest in the industry
  • 30-day money-back guarantees
  • Apps for multiple devices and the most popular systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, Chrome, Firefox)
  • Can be used on multiple devices simultaneously.

It is also quite easy to install them, but first, you need to cancel your current VPN subscription.

Do this by contacting your customer support and requesting a refund, if your current VPN’s money-back guarantee did not run out yet.

If it did, simply cancel the renewal in the settings, and you are done.

You don’t have to cancel it manually, but instead, simply let it run out and it won’t take an automatic payment for another month once you reach the end of the term.

After that, you can easily choose one of the three VPNs mentioned above, sign up on their websites, install the apps, log in, and connect to one of the US-based servers that they have to offer.

In the end, this is your only real option, apart from actually traveling to the US or some other country where Amazon provides its services.

Conclusion

Amazon Prime is a very popular streaming service, but it is also rather difficult to access from the wrong location.

In other words, if you are not located in a country that Amazon Prime services, you won’t be able to access its content and the platform will return an Amazon error 1042 or Amazon error code 4601.

Fortunately, you can easily bypass this. All you need is a proper VPN. Beware that Amazon blacklisted many services already, but still there are some that work.

Pick one of the VPNs we recommend above and you shouldn’t face any hiccups along the way.
